The filter media, a component of ELITOLON UNIT®,
is TOYOBO electret filter ELITOLON® U type, which is composed
of double layer structure made of electret filter and a non-woven
fablic with fiber density gradient.
Generally, air filter made by fibrous component collects atmospheric dust by
following mechanism.
- Inertial impact
- Direct interception
- Diffusional deposition
- Gravitational setting
In addition to them, collection mechanism of ELITOLON® is based on two electrostatic
effects of electret fibers.
- Coulombic force
- Induced force
The electrostatic effect is kept for a very long time because the electret
fibers made of a dielectric synthetic polymer have semipermanent charges.
Because of this composition it displays the following features.
- Low pressure drop and low running cost
Because of electert filter, the amount of fibers needed to improve the collection
efficiency is only a few, therefore we can attain low pressure drop.
- Long life time and low maintenance cost
By utilizing with fiber density gradient along the thickness direction of
the filter media, we are able to avoid clogging due to dust particles and
technical applications were made to reduce increase in pressure drop.
- Ease of handling
Because the filter media is made of synthetic fiber, the strength is higher,
it is difficult to be damaged, comparing with conventional glass fiber
filter media, there is little trouble in installation and exchange.
- Resistance to chemical
Since the filter media is made of polyolefin fibers, the filter unit endures
erosion from acids or alkalis.
